On the heels of Friday's eleventh hour dash to dot the I's and cross the T's on our permitting application, we now have a permit in hand. God showed up and helped us out with a few small miracles.
And today, the crew began the process to drive in 50 28-foot pilings. This piling system will support our foundation. Work on the footings for the foundation is scheduled to begin Wednesday. We have broken ground!

Hurdle Won
We have gone to permitting. During the housing boom, St. Johns County, Florida, was notorious for slow permitting processes. I remember seeing spec houses in the permitting phase for weeks and even months. But times have changed, and county officials told our builder we should hear back within two weeks. In the meantime, subs are being scheduled begin construction as soon as the permit comes back.
Although I know this hurdle is only the first, I feel like we have run a marathon already after the designing and engineering phases.
